The numbers — and where they come from
Ecosystem-level figures from citable sources, listed the way this project publishes everything: with attribution, with dates, and without pretending anyone can watch the whole picture.

How to read these numbers
- They are dated on purpose. Every figure here belongs to a period; none of them is a live feed. A snapshot is evidence about a moment, not a prediction, and not an invitation to trade on it.
- Marketplaces lie about themselves. Listing counts are not transaction counts — the same digital product can be "sold" repeatedly, and listings can be duplicated or faked. The sources used here are professional analysts, not marketplace dashboards.
- Different numbers measure different things. Total crypto flows to marketplaces, drug sales specifically, and seizure totals are different measurements of different populations. Comparing them directly produces confident nonsense.
- No per-marketplace metrics, by policy. This site publishes no user counts, no uptime, no "is it working right now" data for any single marketplace. That kind of page serves the people trying to reach a market — not the people trying to leave one alone. This is a standing rule, not an oversight.
What the trend lines actually suggest
Assessment Taken together, the published figures describe an ecosystem consolidating rather than growing: demand for illicit drugs continued to rise while the number of new marketplace launches fell sharply, and the privacy coin Monero spread across what remained. [1] For the people inside, that consolidation has a less abstract meaning: fewer platforms hold more deposits — and each collapse takes more of them at once.
